Guest guest
Too old for the or his feet are too big for the ? I've never heard of this. Are the Markell shoes an option? Also Dr. Dobbs has created a new brace, maybe talk to him about options too. s. what's next? Hello everyone, I am so happy I joined this group, my son is 18 months old, he has right clubfoot and has been treated by Doctor Ponseti, we has casted and had the tenotomy a year ago, we has been using the 's bar but he had a relapse two months ago. We went to Iowa and he was re-casted. Now Doctor Ponseti told us he is too old to use the 's shoes, he suggest we buy a pair of hiking boots and adapt them to the bar, but I am a little bit sceptical. Any suggestions? He is using the bar 16 hours a day, so I want him to be comfortable. Another question: What kind of shoes / socks should wear ? Any kind? Thank you very much! , mom of . Guest guest
, Why is it that you can't get the standard brace for ? (the regular Markell Tarso straight-last shoes and adjustable length bar) What do the doctors who use the Ponseti method in Central and South America use? There are quite a few of them listed on Dr. Ponseti's website, so I would imagine that they have either a local distributor or manufacturer or they're importing them. Maybe you could email one of the doctors down there and see if they could help you out? There are pictures in the files section on this group's website of some baby shoes glued or cemented to the brace. This was from many years ago prior to the Markell shoes coming in tiny sizes (size 0000)- they would use regular shoes from the store that could hold the baby's foot better. Outside of wearing the brace, can wear any shoe or go barefoot, there are no special requirements- unless he has some special considerations like weak ankles where he would benefit from a high top shoe for support. We're glad you're here! & (3-16-00, left clubfoot) > > Hello everyone, > > I am so happy I joined this group, my son is 18 months old, he has right clubfoot and has been treated by Doctor Ponseti, we has casted and had the tenotomy a year ago, we has been using the 's bar but he had a relapse two months ago. Guest guest
Okay, what do you mean your son is too old to wear the s? Does that mean all of our older children using s will likely relapse? This is news to me, but the info is coming directly from the horses mouth. Now I am concerned. Everyone using the s, please chime in! Guest guest
, This is news to me! My daughter has been in the s for almost a year. She is almost 2 years old and started out with the Markells But was changed to the s BY Dr.Ponseti. That is why I do not understand why he would ask you to change to a hiking shoe? THe last time we talked about her next pair of shoes which was about a month ago, she was 22 months, he still insisted on her being in the s. My daughter wears regular shoes nothing special. I bought her a pair of " Robeez " slippers just b/c I have heard that barefoot is best and these shoes are like if they were bearfoot. SHe wears these when she is indoors although these can be worn outdoors as well. Other than that nothing special. When I took her to see Dr.Ponseti I asked him if she needed to wear any special shoe and he said no. He just said look for shoes that have good ankle support if I thought she needed it, but she has'nt. The only thing I bought her with ankle support was a pair of sandals for the summer but that is it. Hope this helps, MIchelle and BL CF 12/16/03 Cortes wrote: Hello everyone, I am so happy I joined this group, my son is 18 months old, he has right clubfoot and has been treated by Doctor Ponseti, we has casted and had the tenotomy a year ago, we has been using the 's bar but he had a relapse two months ago. Guest guest
Thanks for your quick answers. I think the problem with is that he is a very " strong boy " (Ponseti's words), he broke his fiber glass cast, can you imagine? Maybe that's why the 's are too soft for him. I can get something like the Markell's here in Mexico, but I am not sure, I'll ask Dr. Ponseti again and we'll see. susan: I don't think you'll have any problem with the 's, believe me they are VERY comfortable and very light too. If your boy/girl is like mine you might need something harder, let's see what Dr. Ponseti sais and I'll let you know. But it won't relapse because of that. mom of (Ale) Mexico city Mexico -- ___________________________________________________ Play 100s of games for FREE! http://games.mail.com/
