Guest guest
Hello everyone-- glad to finally find a group! I had RNY June 23, 2003 at 343 lbs. To date I have lost 135 lbs. to 208. I no longer take blood pressure meds, anti-inflamatories for my back, and of most allergy medication. The surgery was the best thing I have ever done for myself, short of having my daughter. I have had no major side effects, but I did lose quite a bit of hair from about the fourth month to the ninth. My Dr. prescribed 220 mg of zinc sulfonate 3x a day at about the seventh month. I have no idea whether it was the zinc of the time factor that helped, but the shedding has stopped. I also lost hair after I was pregnant, and when I lost 100 lbs the first time low carbing, and it grew back both times, so I was not too concerned. I lost 28 lbs the first ten days, 60 lbs the first two months, 110 lbs by six months. I am very happy with my progress, but is seems that this month I have lost nothing. I guess I have reached the dreaded " plateau " . I have noticed that it is getting increasingly easier to eat " around " the surgery-- I can still only eat very small amounts at any given time, but I want to do it all day long now, instead of just three or four times a day. I am not sure what to attribute this increase in hunger , or eating, to, but it is distressing. Does anyone have any insight or suggestions? I suppose my biggest life change since the surgery would have to be getting used to not drinking during and after meals. I struggle with this problem every day. I just can' t get used to it. Otherwise, I feel great, am seriously overspending on a new wardrobe, and am enjoying playing with my family and friends again. Best moments-- Passing out in the Dr's office from too much blood pressure medication. Perverse, yes, but very nice to have my GP finally become a " believer " in the surgery. First trip on an airplane without an extender! Finally having to worry about being too close to the airbag in the car! (I am SHORT) Wearing HIGH heels and short skirts! Being able to keep up with my four year old. Thanks for listening, and for having this group! Guest guest
I know what you mean.....I had my Lap RNY in December of 2001...I was 282 lbs....5- " 8 " ..now I'm 170..size 12 and ok with that. I would like to loose about another 15 which would put me close to that size 10, but I just don't feel like starting with the whole watch what you eat thing....I'm sure sometime this summer I will be more in the mood to loose it. I do know also about the snacking thing. I too can only eat small amounts, however some days I want to do it all day. My down fall is Subway. I by a 12 incher and munch on it all afternoon. I know I could be eating worse things...One thing I really dont crave any more is sweets...ice cream, donuts, cookies, pies..etc. and something even more weird. When I do eat these foods...I don't get dumping syndrome. The only thing that might happen is that my heart might race a little bit and I might get slightly nauseated..but that's it. I dont care really about sweets anymore.. I would rather have a sandwich or something like that.... Sonja Re: Introductions Hello everyone-- glad to finally find a group!
