Guest guest
Let me tell you Liane the day the scale registers under 200 I am going to be very happy. I cant help but wonder what life will be like a year from now. I will be 29 and will be at a normal weight and body size. I wish I had known about the DS sooner. I wonder if a year from now I will be much nicer to myself. Its funny because I would never think half the stuff I used to think of myself. I hope I learn self-patience and self appreciation. *shrugs* who knows but at least I have something to look foward to. Lisbeth " Lili F. Guest guest
Thanks Meli, Congratulations on your weight loss you are doing great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What was your starting weight if you dont mind me asking. I need to up my protein and water. Its funny because I am not crazy about protein. Truth be told I am not crazy about food the way I used to be. I still love food but it doesnt hold the endless fascination it used to. Now I am going to concentrate on the next 75 lbs to lose. One small step at a time. Lisbeth lionrampart1@... wrote: Congratulations beth, you're doing wonderfully! My surgery was three days before yours, and our weight loss is pretty much the same (I'm minus 45 lb) It is a trick to get in all the protein every day, I agree. But so far so good. My energy is getting better with every pound lost, but I still could use more. I too need to start exercising. Not my favorite thing, but necessary! I keep thinking to 2 1/2 months ago and the differance is incredible. I sprint up the stairs. I walk fast. I am no longer out of breath and I have energy. I have a ton of energy. The last few days I have been a bit tired so I am monitoring myself. Am I perfect good god no. I have to up my protein and I have to figure out how to take my iron pills and not get sick to my stomach each time. And I definitely need to drink MORE water. But I am grateful that I am feeling better. Now I just wish I had the money to buy a new wardrobe *sigh* > > Lisbeth > Dr. Macura > June 25, 2001 > Highest 259 > then 254 > today 213 > > > > --------------------------------- >
Guest guest
That is a very reasonable goal. I was hoping that I could be anwhere from 135-155. I think it will primarily depend on how I feel physically. I hit 135 during one of my many diets and I felt great I was super active and fit. Who knows as the song goes " que sera, sera " . You are my role model Judie, you eat what you want and you feel great. Keep up the good work and keep sharing. I love to hear how you are doing. My goal is 140 (dr welker says that is very reasonable as we are not to strive for what we weighed in high school after being morbidly obese for so many years) Wow! 41 lbs in 2 months? Thats dang good.....thats 20 1/2 lbs a month! WOW! Guest guest
beth, My all time highest weight was 336. I lost 8lb pre-op without even trying. So, on the day of my surgery I was 328. I'm now at 283, so minus 45 since surgery, but minus 53 total. And you know what? Its pretty much effortless. I alsways do protein first, and all my supplements, but then I eat as I please. This surgery is really amazing. And we're just getting started girl!! BTW, I bought some liquid protein for days when I'm low on intake. Its syrupy, tastes like Robitussin and vitamins. I pretty much gag as it goes down, but two tablespoons equals 30gm of protein. Its much quicker than drinking shakes, which I have always had a problem with. It will be fun to watch eachother lose! Guest guest
Please dont even mention the protein shakes. Man they are grosssssssssssssss. Its a small price to pay for weight loss though. But man I wish they made a palatable protein drink. Its great having a group of people to share this with who actually understand it. I wonder if a year from now I will be much nicer to myself. I can relate, Lisbeth.. I can definitely relate. I have not been under 200 lbs since I was in Junior High.. or even younger (to be honest, I refused to be weighed between the ages of 9 & 13). I wish we had ALL known about the DS sooner.. I'm 10 years ahead of you in age, & I'd have cheerfully skipped all the foot & knee pain & big spider veins that have appeared in those years... Lisbeth, be nicer to yourself NOW, honey.. I know its hard to do, but people take their cues on how to treat you from how you treat yourself.. if you're always knocking yourself, then that gives them permission to knock you, too.. and you deserve better! It took me years to figure that out.. but its worked since pretty well.. Its not easy, though.. sometimes I slip & get all down on myself, but I make myself (or one of my loving friends does) ease off. You just deserve better, OK?? Hugs, Liane =)

Right then I decided that if this surgery kept me under 200 for the rest of my life fairly easily, I would be happy. I have lost more, but that has just been icing on the cake. It was when I got to 199 that I felt normal and healthy. Which looking good is a byproduct of this surgery but the real purpose for me was being normal and healthy.
