Guest guest
Hi Alba, Sorry to hear that is having problems tollerating the shoes. I would venture to guess that his bar is still much too short! Our daughter had a 10 " bar at 2 months old! How old is ? 7 " sound WAY TOO SMALL! Take the FAB and hold it up to his shoulders (on his back). The heels of the shoes should just come to outside of his shoulders. What kind of bar do you have? Is it an adjustable one? If so, just widen it on your own out to AT LEAST 8 " , he may need even more, like 10 " . Our daughter has always been more comfy in a longer bar. The fact that he was pulling his foot out of the brace is a real indicator that the bar is too short. Lots of parents here have had real success in getting their kids more comfy just from getting a longer bar - I would try this before ordering the shoes. Also, have you read Kori's tips & tricks doc. in the files section? You need to make sure that you are getting the shoes on properly but it really sounds to me like NEEDS a longer bar. Good luck and hope this helps some, & Grace 18 mos unilateral rcf FAB 13 hrs > > Hi it't me Alba, is on his shoes again after havin some problems > with the his left foot, he was taking the shoe of. Guest guest
Alba, I'm wondering if perhaps your doc is the one paying for your son's shoes... since he's so worried about cost. have you had a chance to take the series of pictures described here (front and back standing bearing weight, soles, and profile of dorsiflexion) of his feet? 7 " bar? on a 9 month old? have you put it up to his shoulders to see if the heels fit just over them? See, my daughter had an 8 " bar at 5w old... so I'm not understanding why a 9mo old would have a 7 " bar unless he's tiny, tiny, tiny. At 9mo's old I think we had a 10 or bigger actually. This age however, they're all over the place while sleeping. Covers get caught, wakes them up. Plus, growth spurts... makes them hungry at night. A combination of things may be doing this. But with the red heels, something may not be right with either fit or his feet. Do send the pictures, if you're not on CFPics please join and you can send them to us there. We're pretty good at spotting things that could cause trouble in so far as correction, or fit of shoes. Send us pics of him in his shoes too. Is he slipping at all? That doc is lying if he has never had problems with these shoes. That's just not possible, I think even some of Dr. P's patients have had problems... thus the invention of the PM's. They aren't bad shoes, but some feet just need the others. And if this doc is paying for the shoes, sure... he can be concerned about cost. But if you are, shouldn't it be your choice? hang in there, we'll get you figured out. Talk to us, send us pictures. Tell us all about it. that's what we're here for. Guest guest
Hi Alba, How are things going? It is so hard when babies don¹t sleep! Is any better now? It may not be the shoes, my baby didn¹t sleep through the night until he was eighteen months old and he still wakes every now and then. I think for some kids the shoes do play a part as they just find it hard to get comfortable but he will learn how to sleep, hopefully soon! Also, whenever my son was going through a growth spurt, getting taller or doing more mentally or physically (learning to walk/talk...) or teething he wouldn¹t sleep and would sometimes wake every hour. Have you tried any sleep training? Also, daytime routines help, have you heard of Ford, she wrote a book called the Contented Baby which I found helpful (it lasts until they are about 1 year old) also ³Happiest Baby on the Block² and ³Happiest Toddler on the Block² I found very helpful.
