Guest guest
Hi all, I feel like I'm stuck in a bit of a pickle. I definitely have yeast overgrowth (I have thrush, and many other symptoms but have never had any tests done). It gets worse with higher doses of prednisone, and I am on prednisone currently at 10mg. I know that in order to start LDN, which I am really looking forward to, I need to get my yeast under control. I also know that when they are going nuts in my guts, they are burrowing in to take footholds, which in my mind might be causing more bleeding, so they really need to go! I have eliminated all honey, dairy, fermented food, peanut butter, and I am left with beef, fish, chicken, chicken liver when my guts are happy, zucchini, and avocado, pear and blueberries (so mostly fruit carbs). I also eat some onion and garlic on food every other day to fight the yeast. My first question is, on SCD, what veggies do people tolerate best when they have yeast overgrowths? I know everyone is different, but I figure my ecology might be closer to someone with both fungal and bacterial overgrowth. I want to be eating more veggies and less fruits overall if possible. My next question is about lemon juice. I added lemon juice to my diet yesterday because it is recommended by everyone to kill off yeast, but I am confused about it. For one, I am in a lot more pain today and worse symptoms (I also added cayenne pepper to be more aggressive - won't do that again). Not sure if it's cayenne or lemon juice. I read that lemon juice makes the guts acidic, and yeasts dont' like that, but I have also read that yeasts love swimming in their own waste, which is acidic, so you want to alkalinize the body to get rid of them. Which is it? And have people with bleeding bled worse when acids are introduced? Or is this part of " symptoms getting worse at first " when doing an antiyeast diet? If anyone has any tricks up their sleeves for combating yeast while on prednisone in order to stop a flair, or just doing anti-yeast while on SCD, I would love to hear them. I've read the files here, but feel like any extra knowledge would really help right now. I have to do this in order to go down on prednisone, in order to fight the yeasts better, in order to get on LDN in order to stop flairs. <scratching head> Thanks everyone! I just have to say I am really grateful I joined this group. I feel like I complain a lot and have too many questions, but it is sooo helpful to draw from all your experiences while trying to figure all this stuff out. Thank you, Kat 27 UC since June 09 SCD since Feb 10 prednisone 10mg, acyclovir, multivitamin
Guest guest
Thanks ! Maybe I'll try spinach when this last flare gets under control a little. I'll trade you spinach for avocados for a few days! ;b Kat > > i have yeast and i think the veggies i tolerate ok are: > zuchini/yelow squash > well cooked collard greens (the leaves. i dont know about the stems) > spinach and chard > some kale i think?? > definitely not avocado; i'm jealous > it sounds like you're doing a lot of things right and making the yeast beasts suffer- keep it up!! > -andrea > celiac/intolerances > SCD 3 months >
