You will lose hair, for each person it varies. My hair is very fine and thin without the WLS, then it did get thinner. I noticed losing a lot about 2 months out until about 6 months post op, then I started noticing new growth. It is still thinner than it was but it's okay, I'll take the thinner hair anyday over the big unhealthy body. Take care. Donna J. Lazo wrote: Am I going to really lose my hair? How low will we go? Check out Yahoo! Messenger’s low PC-to-Phone call rates.

The hair loss thing really scared me. I had my surgery in December

and really noticed the hair loss about a month ago. So I would have

been 4 months out. I have very thick hair and the amount I was

loosing scared me but the surgery was well worth it.

This happened to me too. My doctor prescribed Biotin (vitamin for hair and nails). I also had trouble with my gums bleeding. But after taking them for 2 months, everything is better. I also had to get shots twice a week (b-12). I am still getting shots once a week now. I still can't eat red meat. But that is okay because I really wanted to stop eating red meat anyway. So I eat chicken (baked and teriyaki chicken jerky). hmmm I am 9 out and loving every minute of my weight loss. da6bearz wrote: The hair loss thing really scared me. Talk is cheap. Use Yahoo! Messenger to make PC-to-Phone calls. Great rates starting at 1¢/min.

We should note - hair loss post-bariatric is both more noticeable

and has a bigger psychological impact for women than for men, and it

is TEMPORARY for all.

If you are a male and you do not have a history of male pattern

baldness, odds are very high that all you will experience is

temporary thinning which is discernible by touch by probably not by

sight. How temporary? Maybe two months.

I sincerely hope that closes the topic for the men. By the same

token, although the impact seems to be greater for women, so does

the benefit of biotin.

I am now about 5 months out and my hair

loss has stopped considerably, if that helps anyone out there.
