I just recieved a call from my Rhemy Doc Humira has gotten approved. Due to the fact Prednisone use has given me RA. I start my shots on Friday. Depending on my reaction to Humira after two shots or a month if everything is good we will start eaning off Prednisone. Thank you Lord I am ready to get off that med. I Liked the fact that it got my sarcoidosis under control. But the 20+ side effects are a real downer. Well I wish everybody health and wellness and hop I am wished the same.Greg
Guest guest
Thank you Connie , Royce, and all for your thoughts and prayers. They have been well received and I am returning the same to you and all. First injection of Humira this morning. No adverse reactions at injection site or from me. Ok maybe I am a little more tired then usual after the injection but nothing really bad. They list a whole bunch of possible reactions in the booklet for Humira. Been down to 20 mg of Prednisone for the last year. That is Down from over 100 mg. to 60 mg and at 20 mg since Sept 2008. I went from 198 lbs to over 280 lbs on prednisone. I have been working out diligently for the past 3 months and dieting (due to Pre-Diabetes due to prednisone use) and I have gotten my weight down to 255. Then my joints began to hurt. Well at first they were just uncomfortable, well you know like the pain of getting a tattoo, not much pain but uncomfortable. Then they , my joints (knees, ankles, and hips) started hurting like getting a tooth pulled with out pain killers. Well my Rhemy Doc just diagnosed me with RA and said now I can get you off Prednisone and onto Humira with out fighting the Ins. Co. so he Prescribed Humira and we will do a months worth of injections (2 , 1 every 2 weeks). Then he will start weaning me totally off Prednisone after he is sure I have no reactions to Humira. He will start weaning me off in 2.5 mg intervals, I.e. 20 to 17.5 to 15 and so on. About a month ago he raised my Imuran from 50 mg to 100 mg to help me get ready to wean off the Prednisone. So far so good at this time. I was not happy with the treatment plan that my old Neuro Doc had me on. I did some studying and found a better and more Sarcoid Informed Neuro Doc and she suggested I added a Rhemy Doc to my team. So I would have better access to some treatments. I have decided to keep this new Neuro Doc and get rid of the old one. It is my hope that this team I built will help me get into a more permanent remission, so I can get back to work. Been out of work for over a year and I am going stir crazy. I miss it, I miss the challenge and the commitment it took to diagnose and fix these new high tech autos. I see that I have rambled on again, and I probably gave TMI. Sorry May all be blessed with health and wellness. May all experience Pain-Free days soon. And may their hearts be filled with joy and happiness. Good thoughts and prayers for all..
