He's great and they have a wonderful support group. At the time I had the surgery (last March) my cost was about $17,000 and a few days of hotel costs. It since has gone up either $4000 or $5000, not exactly sure. But it's still not bad and worth it for regaining my life. Jackie Ward jward533@... Guest guest
Jackie, I thought the cost of DS waws 30,000 ot 40,000 in the United States? This is virtually the same cost as Spain and I live right next to Ohio. How is your weight doing? Is your body back to normal feeling? Sounds like a good deal for a self pay! Guest guest
The cost varies depending if it is open or lap. THe lap is by far more expensive. Guest guest
Jakcie I wnet ahead and joined the group. Thanks for pointing that out to me. I am in ton and very near to Ohio. Even though I also have hopes for the west coast too. Being closer to home I think would be much better for me oever all. This op is a big painful one. I dont like to be uncomfortable for long periods of time. lol. no one does. But I will go where ever I have to go, even if to Spain but I can do the leg work if it is local if I can get some insurance help better than I could if I was going in an airplane everywhere. I think being 45 might slow things down too as far as healing quickly goes too. It doesnt look as though I will get the surgery during this year at all either so that puts me closer to 50 all the time. I will be looking into Dr Maquire now too though and thank you for all the leads to his group. Lee H. << > ? Is your body back to normal feeling? Sounds like a good deal > for a self pay! > I'm 5 months out the 19th of this month and I've lost 86 lbs. My body is back to normal and I have a lot of energy. It took me about 10 weeks (longer than most) to have any energy but I was very sedentary before surgery and was 53 at the time. I think those things slowed it down. I didn't feel bad, just extremely tired. But now all I do is run around etc. So much fun! Where do you live? Dr. Maguire is a very experienced surgeon and a wonderful man. They have a support group that is extremely active and that has helped me so much. Check out the Maguire site for further info if you'd like.
