Guest guest
Hello Your swollen/blistered mouth descriptions, plus wheezing or other allergy/asthma type of pattern, sounds like dermatitis herpetiformis [DH], a skin form of celiac. If you know your child is celiac, then this is my guess as to what it is. Here is a great article on celiac and DH. Look at figure 6 and 7. Does this look like your child's mouth? http://www.aafp.org/afp/980301ap/pruessn.html My son gets these mouth lesions when he chews on grass or plants, or someone uses a medicine/cream/lotion on him that is not gf. It does take several weeks for it to go away, and if your son is getting occasional gf infringements, either food or on his skin, then it may seem to take forever to go away. Here is another good description of DH, from my best celiac site. http://www.celiac.com/derm.html From this second link you can go to the main page and look at other information on celiac and DH. I hope this helps you. Dana > I am from the UK and don't usually post...however I am desperate for > answers. My son is 8 with celiac disease and AD/HD. Guest guest
Hi, My son sometimes gets an inflammed, red rash around his mouth and his lips, and his lips crack and bleed. It takes about two weeks to heal. The allergist said that it was definately a food allergy. We finally narrowed it down to fruits that are very acidic, like strawberries, kiwi fruit and pineapple.
