Guest guest
I'm totally with you on this . As a candidate for WLS, we obviously already have a past history of " failure " with weight loss, why set us up to fail yet again by giving us a " goal " that is more than likely unattainable? Why set a goal weight at all? As for the choosing the wrong surgery, many of us didn't have a choice at all, or didn't know that we had a choice. When I had my surgery, I didn't know about distal or DS or anything other than what my doctor told me about, which is the surgery I got. I researched the RNY gastric bypass because that's what I was told to read about (by my surgeon's receptionist when I called to set up my consult) and I read quite a lot about it. I didn't read anything about longer or shorter bypasses though, so I didn't know that there were options. Had I researched more or gone more in depth I may have found out that I had options with the RNY, but I didn't. I ended up being revised to a distal almost a year ago (my situation is nearly the same as Carol A - stretched stoma and pouch that weren't fixable) and I'm very happy with the results. ---------------------------------------- Terry Mayers 5DollarHosting.com http://www.5dollarhosting.com .... because it shouldn't cost a fortune to make a fortune! How many docs will allow you to tape record your entire consult without even a moment's hesitation? Totally unconcerned or unafraid his every word was being recorded for who knows what use later.......That one act alone made him a hero to me.
