Guest guest
Lorraine: I'm almost four years post-op and though I thought I was extremely well informed, I never heard of proximal or distal surgery until I joined this group. All my doctor told me that he made the decision on how much to bypass when he got in there. Me, he bypassed 4' of intestine and created a pouch. Ended up with a sld disruption seven months later and then transected me, but told me he didn't have to bypass anymore because the " hook-up " was fine. His expectations for my weight loss was approximately 100-125 lbs and I would be considered a success. I'm down between 175-185 and hoping to lose another 25-30 lbs, but now it is work. I've also put on some weight after my most recent surgery and am quite upset and now working harder and concentrating more about what I put in my mouth. I was told over a year ago on one of my scopes that there was a tiny " hole " and it looked like the two sections of stomach were trying to grow back together. Was having pain and the doc said that he thought some food may have become lodged in that hole and caused the problems that I was having. Pain went away and never thought about it again. Never thought anything about it becoming a problem. I do recall them telling me to stay on the Nexium and Librax as the Nexium is an acid suppressor and that supposedly would keep the two sections of stomach from re-attaching. Reading these posts over the past few weeks about fistulas and such have me nuts. I can eat more than I could and more times during the day. Do still dump from too many carbs that make me exceedingly cranky and tired and if given the chance I fall asleep. Wondering if I should be scoped again and if that is in fact what's going on, what in God's name do I do then? Feeling quite stupid right now and anxious. Can't do this again. I just can't.
