Alyssa,That thing needs to be kept in a utility room with the door closed! It isn't that it is super loud, but the noise is enough and it is constant. It would be like hearing the washing machine all the time.AmeliaTo: BTVC-SCD Sent: Wed, March 24, 2010 1:02:51 AMSubject: Excalibur Dehydrator Noise

Okay, I've been reading some scary reviews about this thing making as

much noise as a bathroom fan. Depending on how loud of a bathroom fan

we're talking about, this could be an issue. We were thinking about

getting one and putting it in our kitchen, but my parents are very

light sleepers and they're right down the hall. For those of you who

have one, exactly how much noise does it make?

Thanks!

Peace =)

It (they; I have two) sits on a cabinet right behind my husband's chair in the dining room. It can be running full tilt and doesn't bother him at meal times; we can easily talk when it's running. Yay =) This is very reassuring! Thanks!! Peace =)Alyssa 16 yo UC April 2008, dx Sept 2008SCD June 2009 (restarted)Azathioprine 50 mg 1x per dayPrednisone 35 mg 1x per day

P.S. When I said washing machine, I forgot that in the US people use the top loading washers which are really noisy. I have a front loading machine and it is fairly quiet compared to the top loaders when washing. However, the spin cycle is another matter. Sounds like a jet engine winding up! ; )Lol yep we have a top loader! Hopefully not for long though; front loaders are much better for the environment, and apparently quieter too! =) Peace =)Alyssa 16 yo UC April 2008, dx Sept 2008SCD June 2009 (restarted)Azathioprine 50 mg 1x per dayPrednisone 35 mg 1x per day

You serious?? Grrrr darn. And we

just found a spot for it in the kitchen! Now I'm not sure where it could

garage? Does it run worse when it's too cold/hot? This might be a

problem...

Alyssa,

It will be a steady " white noise " kind of thing. Like I

said, it's a 7 " fan. No more, no less.

Mara,"So how does the excalibur fan compare to the fan of a convection oven (which is noticeably noisy)?"I would say that they are similar. I think the dehydrator has a more 'delicate' whir than the convection oven, though. And sometimes the dehydrator has a slight rattle (I think it is the door) that goes away when it is 'jiggled' ; )Amelia
