Guest guest
I'm depressed. But I will live. My surgery has been so much easier then the rest of you. But I'm old and this is difficult. My lower jaw was moved back and to the left yesterday. I am banded tightly, might as well be wires. The swelling is the worst. I'm not brused yet, that will probably come later. Use losts of ice packs. Those getting ready, get several because they loose their chill quickly. I think my face is hotter with the swelling. But oh my god, I can feel my lips. My chin and jaw line are numb but I can actually feel my lips. I think that is unusual. Lucky me, I think. Tired. Going back to bed. Later everbody. Guest guest
Much less likely that your depression and difficulties are the result of age (I was 56, almost 57, when I had lower advancement and movement to the right) than that they are the result of the aftereffects of steroids and anesthesia. Slow down... It's gonna take some time for you and your body to get things back together. But it will get better... Drink lots of fluids. Be sure you get some good nutrition -- enough to help things heal. Get some moderate exercise -- like gentle walks -- but don't overdo. All easier said than done. But you'll get there, really and truly. Meantime, we're thinking of you! Cammie > > I'm depressed. But I will live. My surgery has been so much easier > then the rest of you. Guest guest
Hi Dave, Sorry you're depressed. Cammie's probably right, it's probably the drugs and anesthesia. Those have got to be central nervous system depressants. Sleep, take good care of yourself, let people help you. And thanks for the tip on the ice packs. I will be having surgery probably in December, and your suggestion made me realize I should start a list of the things I will need. So I just created a memo on my Palm with ice packs as the first item! Thank you. Please keep us posted on how your recovery goes. I would appreciate hearing any experiences you want to share. Guest guest
Hi Dave, I'm sorry you're having a rough go of it so far. Doesn't matter how old you are or if someone has had it worse... that doesn't change how much you might be feeling miserably in your situation regardless!!! Just cause it could be worse, doesn't mean it isn't bad!! Just don't want you to discount your feelings. They will pass, they might return, but none of them are a permanent fixture. I had a lot of ups and downs... I still do. Anyway, I'm inarticulate right now. I just wanted to check in and tell you to hang in there because this time WILL pass.... slowly it may seem at times, but surely.... And, that IS great that you can feel your lips! I wish I could! Let us know how you're doing as you get through these next couple weeks!! Take good care, Katja PS, I had the same problems with the ice packs warming up too quickly.... They should come with a lot more little gel packs or the option to buy more. > > I'm depressed. But I will live. My surgery has been so much easier > then the rest of you.
