I have always been a stomach or side sleeper and since the surgery I

sleep on my back because I'm scared of doing something to my jaw. Does

anyone sleep on the side or anything yet and if so how long did it

take before you did this? Antoher reason is I think with all of

this " stress " my muscles are screaming for a massage and of course I

would need to lay face down for this and I'm not sure if this is

something safe yet. So if anyone can tell me when they started laying

where the face can be touched let me know please. Thanks!

Hi,

I am also a side sleeper. About week 2 (I know its soon) I started

propping my hands under my temples so my head was flat on my pillow but

my jaw wasn't touching. Honestly it started worrying me so now I just

lay flat on my back. I thought about having a massage and instead of

laying on my stomach just staying on my back the whole time.

Hi Lindsey,

I wasn't given any specific instructions about sleeping after my

surgery. Because of everything I had read about congestion on this

board, I opted to sleep with my head elevated. For the first week

after surgery, I wasn't really sleeping at all... as soon as I was

able to sleep, I was sleeping sort of on my side depending on my

comfort. That was probably around 8-10 days after surgery. I called

the surgeon and double checked. He said it was totally fine to sleep

on my side. I had upper/lower/genio on 3/9 and he used rigid fixation

to give you context. I would just call your surgeon and ask for his

recommendation just to be sure. I can't tell you anything about the

massage however. Good luck! :) Katja
