Hi Jane,

So they moved your jaw back and to the left and now you're saying

it's TOO far back? What has your doctor been saying about this?

My jaw has started shifting too. Im 3 weeks post op now and im having to wear my

bands again but it still feels funny in the splint. I dont remember the bands

hurting this much in the beginning but then again I was on pain killers then. Is

this normal? and has anyones stayed where it was supposed to or am I going to

feel like I have to adjust my jaw all the time. I only had my lower moved foward

about 7 mm. please tell me it will quit moving sometime!!!!!!!

Yann,

I'm not positive its technically too far back! I can close with my

top over my bottom and my teeth sort of fit right in the groove of

the splint but I have to stretch and when at rest it doesn't

naturally rest. The message I'm getting so far is it is aligned but

I have to train my bite to go there naturally with elastics right

now! So...hopefully my jaw trains well and quickly because I'm

wondering how long it takes to wear the elastics (I was hoping to

have my braces removed in two months.

Jane,

Ah - so we do have the same problem. I examined it more closely

today and noticed the same thing. With the elastics on, they don't

quite pull my jaw far enough to line up with the splint. But I can

manually offset my jaw a bit more to line it up. Unfortunately it

doesn't stay when I relax.

I added 2 twists to each elastic and that seems to have made a bit

of a difference, but not quite enough. I want to call my doctor, but

I'm not quite understandable yet. " Toctr R-uk-mn? gif ig Yann...

Who? What? Who is this?? " :)

Yann,

I had that problem and when I went to my OT he showed me another way

to hook my rubber bands so that they give more support. He also gave

me stronger elastics. I hook the tooth one from my upper middle all

the way to my second to last molar. I am having more jaw pain with it

but it seems to help although I still have to stick my teeth and chin

out to make them " fit " .

Hi Jane,

Interesting.. I'll ask him next week. My first elastics went from

1st mollars all the way to the front, so they seemed to keep things

relatively in place, as they were really tight. Now I'm just

wearing front elastics and manually adjusting my bite whenever I

remember.
