Guest guest
Check with your orthotist. Mine had mentioned that in the event my son were to get a fever, remove the helmet. > > My friend's daughter has been off again on again sick for the past > month. Guest guest
Funny how the information differs, even by brand. My son got his DOC Band 5 weeks ago and had his first fever after just 2 weeks in his band. We removed his band for most of the time while he had a fever, but were told by our PT at the CT in Paramus during his 3 week check that we should only remove the band if his fever is 103 or higher because they are concerned about growth spurts and if you leave the band off too long, it might not fit any longer. His fever lasted 3 days and was mostly in the 101 to 102 range (though once it did spike to 102.7), but I don't regret taking it off for one minute. Sometimes you just have to do what's best for your child... mom to , 7 1/2 months, 5 weeks in DOC Band > > > From: nbutler2008 <nbutler2008@...> > > Subject: Fever? > > Plagiocephaly > > Date: Tuesday, July 29, 2008, 9:45 PM > > My friend's daughter has been off again on again sick > > for the past > > month. Guest guest
I would always take the band off since a fever can spike without your knowing it (unless you can monitor it very closely). My daughter was lucky not to be sick while in her band, but whenever she was sick her fever would always go up in the later afternoon/evening. I would miss a growth spurt to make sure there were no problems with the fever. just my 2 cents. -christine sydney 2.5 yrs starband grad > > > > > From: nbutler2008 <nbutler2008@> > > > Subject: Fever? > > > Plagiocephaly > > > Date: Tuesday, July 29, 2008, 9:45 PM > > > My friend's daughter has been off again on again sick > > > for the past > > > month. Guest guest
I was told to take off the helmet for a high fever and when you got it under control (by giving him Tylenol or Motrin...) you can put it back on. > > > Hello all, > > My daughter who's 6 mo is on her 5th week in a Boston Band. She has a low grade fever with a cold. Temp of 100 starting last night. I've had the helmet off since starting the fever. What has everyone else done when they have a fever? What temp do you normally take the helmet off? > > Thanks much in advance!! > > Johanna >
