Guest guest
lap is when they do not cut you open for the surgery, they go in with long hollow poles that there is a camera and they can use the surgical tools though them less healing time and surly less pain than being cut open, and less scarring, that is what i am having in aug i had kneee surgery in sept and they did it the same way but i only have 2 smallscares on my knee and it's about 5 i hear from the lapascopic surgery, the band surgery i have heard many bad things about ,i personnly would not have it and my kaiser hospital insurance will not pay for that one. i hope i have helped you to understand take care and good luck on your surgery shirley of fontana ca kimp160 wrote: this is going to sound like a stupid question considering that I am only 18 days away from surgery, but what is the difference between lap and open surgery? Guest guest
It seems that everyone is different. My hospital and surgercial staff referred to what I had as an open RNY as opposed to a Lap procedure. There was nothing laproscopic about my surgery, i'm cut from the breastbone down to the belly button....lol. My girlfriend had the Lap and she has three small incisions (holes). It all depends on your doctor, your size and your health. It takes longer to have the Lap procedure done than it does the open. For me, if I hadn't had the open they would not have found the ambilical hernia I had nor could they have performed the liver biospy which I also had done. Guest guest
mine was little over 2 hours i think but they did the hernia repair and liver biopsy which they weren't expecting. i was always told that having open was better in the long run because they can make the stem of the " Y " longer. i'm only 4'11 " and the doc told me i was too short for the lap. not enough room to work around in.....lol. i had surgery on friday and was out of bed on sunday. they had me remain in bed til then for healing reasons i guess (not real sure). they had me up and removed my catheter on sunday and i came home that monday with no drainage tubes, staples or butterflies. laurette 4/23/04 open rny 309/290/254/
Guest guest
Hunt's pudding packs, the sugar free ones have splenda.. I am nutrasweet intolerant/allergic whatever too, (I got very ill) ,and I have found splenda to be wonderful! I also found Blue Bunny's sugar free ice cream products have it. I was wandering around the store looking for things with splenda in it last night. Swiss miss has a cocoa with splenda. One of the jello style (not jello) pre made cups is splenda, too. And the Atkins shakes and smoothies (yum) have splenda.. just passing on what I learned last night.. 4 days to go!! Staci Surgery 7-6-04 in Puerto Vallarta > Where do you get the pudding from?
