Guest guest
The Center for Worker Health, Wake Forest University School of Medicine, has produced five radio spots that provide information to Spanish-speaking farmworkers about pesticide safety. Two versions of each spot are available. One version of each is specific to North Carolina. The other version of each is general and applicable for the entire U.S. Each radio spot is one minute long and can be used as a public service announcement (PSA). The topics addressed in the radio spots are: · Farmworkers should bathe immediately after work to remove pesticide residues. · Employers are required to provide pesticide safety training to farmworkers in a language they can understand. · It is important for farmworkers to wash their hands during the work day to keep pesticides from entering the body; employers are required to provide hand washing facilities at the worksite. · Farmworkers should store and wash their work clothes separately from other clothes to prevent contaminating non-work clothes with pesticide residues. · Farmworkers should wear long sleeves, pants, and closed shoes while working to decrease exposure to pesticides. For a free CD with the radio spots, please send your name and mailing address to: A. Arcury, PhD, Director Center for Worker Health Wake Forest University School of Medicine e-mail: tarcury@...
