Guest guest
Oliver had his head casted yesterday for his DOC band. Unfortunately, they were unable to scan him- so no scan info- and I did not receive anything with the manual measurements they took. I suppose ignorance is bliss at this early stage. I was so stressed throughout the whole process, I didn't even ask how long he would be in the band. But we're on our way! When we go for the fitting on the 7th, I'll get the measurements and duration of treatment. Is the casting process as good/efficient as the DSi scan? Now I have to submit the claim myself to Empire BCBS. I know there are specific codes and information that they want to see. Any advice? Any advice on how to care for him in the early days while he is adjusting to the band? Thanks everyone!! , mom to 34 months and Oliver 12 weeks, starting DOC band 5/7/
Guest guest
Hi there- My son was casted for his first DOCBand and scanned for his second, and both fit him perfectly. In fact, the scanned one took an extra adjustment than the casted one in the beginning. I submitted my own claim to our insurance as well (BCBS FEP) and Cranial Tech provided me with the proper codes to use. It went through without a problem, though I understand not everyone is that lucky. I hope you are though! He'll be wearing it (barring any serious skin issues, which is rare) 23 hours by day 2 of treatment. He should adjust within a week or two to the extra heat (they sweat a lot at first because the heat's trapped in), so just dress him really light, even at night, and hopefully he'll have a quick and easy adjustment. Good luck! Jake-2.5 (DOCBand Grad 9/08) Jordan-5 > > Oliver had his head casted yesterday for his DOC band.
