Tired of Waiting

I was tired of waiting to get to the top of the list (we're military

and they have a waiting list) so Wednesday I called and told them I

wanted a referral to get it done in a civilian hospital. Actually I

left them a message, nobody answered the phone. Well Thrusday

morning they called me and wanted to know why and I told them I've

been waiting over a year and in at the end of the year we're moving

and I don't want to start the process all over again at our next duty

station. They told me to give them an hour to pull my chart and let

the doctor take a look at it. An hour later they called back with an

appointment with the doctor and a soft date for surgery......next

month! I was in total shock! My appointment with the doc is in a

week and a half and the date they penciled my name in for the OR is

at the end of July. Their gastric bypass nurse told me she was

shocked I hadn't already been done, that I was high risk and should

have had my surgery within a month or so of being approved. She said

I must have got mixed up in the system and actually apologized!

Since my husband is currently deployed and won't be here I'm in the

process of trying to find someone to come stay with my kids while I'm

in the hospital and to stay for a while afterwards until I'm back on

my feet.

Who would have thought one phone call would get so much accomplished

so fast!
