Hello Everyone!

I just wanted to know if anyone has tried infant cranial-sacral massage therapy

instead of the Doc Band? My little is was recommend for a doc band and she

is 81/2mths. I am having second thoughts about since summer time is coming and I

know she going to be sweating alot. She already does now so I can just image

when it's 100 in Houston. I done some research and this massage therapy came up.

Thanks,

We did CST in conjunction with my daughter's 1st DOC band back when she was 9.5 months. Both her plagio and brachy improved but I can't tell which one was more beneficial. She didn't mind the CST treatment at first but after a while she became very annoyed with it all and would cry the entire 45 mn or so that we were there. She received a 2nd DOC band at 12.5 months and is now 15.5 months. She has 4 weeks left in her second band. We didn't do any CST while in the second DOC band but still saw some improvement.

Given the fact that your child is already 8.5 months old, I would go for the DOC band and maybe do CST at the same time. I say that because as long as your baby's head grows in the next 4 months or so, you will see changes if she wears the DOC band. I have complete faith in it and recommend it to all.

As for the heat, Maysa was in a passive helmet that covered her entire head from July till October and we live in VA. It was hot but she adjusted to the band and the heat. The DOC band is opened at the top and she doesn't sweat as much. Either way, she adjusted to hers very well and very quickly.

Leila,

Maysa, 15 months, 4 weeks left in DOC band 2

Most of us that have used CST used it in conjunction with the helmet (including me). We did have three sessions in two weeks prior to her getting her second scan for the helmet and we had some correction during that time. I was not, however, confident enough in the process to place all of my eggs in that basket.

At 8.5 months, you most likely could still get full correction if you choose to band now. By the end of the summer, is will be older than a year old and in that range where they don't always get full correction. A few months of sweating in the band seems like it would be worth it for a round head for the rest of her life. We've had a few hot days here in MD and when I traveled to AZ and we did take the helmet off a couple of extra times to let 's head dry from the sweat and then put it back on. She didn't ask for it to be taken off. I just took it off because I was so concerned that the heat might be getting to her. Sure enough, her head was sweaty, so we took a 10-minute break. I believe that this is allowed. You could keep her in air conditioning and dress her very lightly.

Good luck with your decision.
