Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I think I have most, if not all, of the bills related to my laparoscopic DS surgery in June. As far as I know, my insurance will be covering all of this, though probably at reduced rates. I'm pretty sure (I hope!) I will not be responsible for anything beyond the $200 charge for the initial consult. Here's the breakdown: Surgeon's Fees- Dr Pomp...(GA RE PR,W/GA BY,W/S BO)..............13,000.00 Dr Pomp...(GAST,PAR,DIS;W/RO-EN-Y R)..............7,500.00 Dr Herron.(GA RE PR,W/GA BY,W/S BO)..............13,000.00 Dr Herron.(GAST,PAR,DIS;W/RO-EN-Y R)..............7,500.00 Hospital Charges (4 nights stay).....................7,792.42 Pathology (Gross and Micro Level II, III, V)...........815.00 Radiology (Esophogus KUB Xray Interpretation)..........140.00 ------------------------------------------------------------- Grand Total.........................................49,747.42 Anyone care to take a stab at the coding for the surgeons? I see something that looks like Roux en Y. I'm sure it's just a way of coding the connection of the intestines, but I'll admit to a brief moment of panic when I first saw that! LOL! Also, nothing whatsoever against Dr Herron or his surgical skills, but if I was told he was " assisting " in my procedure, should they really charge equal fees for both docs? (Personally, I'm thrilled I was fortunate enough to have TWO very skilled surgeons at the helm!) Well, just thought I'd share as I know folks want to know what to expect if they go self-pay. Myself, while I feel the docs at Sinai are among the best, Dr Baltasar in Spain would be my new best friend if I had to self pay!
