Guest guest
Hi Stacee, I would be curious too, maybe you could call and tell Joyce that you are curious, did he ever say that your son had a mild case or loose ligaments? I would probably have to call and find out, it would drive me crazy lol. & Grace > > > > Stacee, > > For what it's worth, in the 5+ years I've been on the boards, I don't > > recall anyone with a young baby posting about going into the FAB at > > 20/7. Guest guest
-- I don't recall any comments along those lines, but I could be wrong. All he said was " I think we have good foot here " several times! It was cute! I might email or call, but it's doubtful. It's already been 3.5 weeks since we were there, so it's obviously not a big deal--I just tend to obsess over anything possible!! :-) I would hate to take time away from people who really need it by calling and pestering either Joyce or the Dr for something so trivial. I'm also paranoid about phrasing my question the wrong way, especially after my inital call after we left there (the really rude nurse who left me in tears accusing me of not trusting the doc's experiences, etc)--I don't want to sound as though I'm second-guessing him. Maybe I'll get to the point where it's bothering me too much and I'll call. Have a great day! Guest guest
When our son went into the DBB in Feb. 2005, we called Dr. Ponseti and were told we could have him in them 20 hours a day. His response when we questioned it was that they are finding that children need less time in the shoes than previously thought. We went ahead and did 23 hours as that is currently back up by more research. Maybe it is something they are now trying in Iowa? 11/19/04 littleman1013 wrote: -- I don't recall any comments along those lines, but I could be wrong. Guest guest
Hi - We started off with 22hours for 2 months and then 20 hours for 1 month. I remember thinking why not 23 hours and actually emailed Joyce just in case I had remembered incorrectly and she emailed me back, saying: There is no absolutely positively etched in stone rule about brace wear. Sometimes he says 23 hours a day, sometimes 22, and for older children even less. Sometimes he says then go down to 20 hours for a month and down to 16-18 starting a month after that. If you have her wear it 20 hours a day, she'll be fine. So we kept her in 22 and then 20, as was prescribed, and we just came back from our first follow-up with Dr. P and he said 's feet look good! Now he told us that we can reduce it to 16 hours! I asked him - all the way to 16 from 20? Then he smiled and said that we could do 18 for a little bit if I was worried, but 16 should be fine! Just in case, I think we'll do 18 for a couple of weeks and then go down to 16. Hope this helps, Yuuko ( 8/4/05 BCF, P/M 18/7) > > We didn't, but after e-mailing Dr. Ponseti he suggested it, after looking at pics of Janna's foot. Guest guest
Yuuko and -- Thanks so much! I'm glad others have had the same experience--to some extent, anyway! I think we'll continue as we have been, with the 21.5-22 hours a day just for my own peace of mind. When we go back the first part of March, I will mention it to see what he says. I'm excited to see what his recommendation is at that point! Guest guest
Stacee, Just got home from Iowa, and saw your post... is a little older than (2/1/05), and Dr. Morcuende and Dr. Ponseti just did her tenetomy this past Wed. Dr. Ponseti told me to keep her in the s (after the healing casts come off in 3 weeks) for 22 hours for at least a month, then I can stay at 22, or go down to 20 for the other two months before our three month follow-up. I don't know why your time is so different... Maybe email Joyce this weekend and see if she is able to write back when she comes in Monday. Sorry I couldn't be any more help!
