Guest guest
I called about Healthy choice and they said they could mail me a list in 4-5 weeks. After I laughed and said I'd have to throw out the meat before then, their nutritionist called back and left an answering machine message that the turkey was ok. My guys didn't like it so we won't get it again. we buy Applegate because it's prepackaged and no nitrates, but they're not crazy about it and I think it's very salty. (They make a great Sunday bacon by the way) How do you control for cross contamination on deli machines? Other brands use wheat, soy, etc. Also, would it help to go to a kosher deli? I'm glad you brought up the cold cut question because I've been wondering. Helene

Guest guest
* , I am not a deli meat buyer , but I was just wondering, aren't other non-GFCF coldcuts and cheeses sliced on the same deli slicer? This would be cross contamination. Guest guest
, I called Healthy Choice about 2 weeks ago and was told that the chicken breast was gfcf and that if there products do have it it must be listed in the ingredients. My son eats it he gives me no trouble eating it and has had no affect on him. hope this helps,i have tried it myself and it was good with Ms. Robbens potato bread. - mom to (asd) and > >Reply-To: GFCFKids >To: <GFCFKids > >Subject: Healthy Choice deli meats? >Date: Tue, 28 Aug 2001 20:19:37 -0500 > >Anyone know the status of these? Guest guest
We still buy deli meat, but I know you run the risk of cross contamination. Some of the meats even have cocoa in them, which my toddler is allergic to. Klementz makes an awesome deli roast beef that appears to be GFCF, but it does contain cocoa. If you do still want to buy deli meats, go to a store with a large deli that uses separate slicers for cheese and meat. Delis in an area with a large Jewish population should do that. That will cut down on casein risk. I think a Jewish deli would still be risky, though, because some of their meats might contain gluten. ===== __________________________________________________
