Guest guest
the length should be either bolt to bolt or heel to heel (much preferred by the kids on this list it seems) shoulder width. Just hold the bar up to his shoulders and se if they fit inside the heels. It should be right at heel to heel, or somewhere in between that and bolt to bolt. It does take a few days to get used to it, but anything out of the ordinary, such as screaming freaking out crying or pressure marks (which can turn into pressure sores, red is ok... black or deep purple is not) is cause for concern. Is his heel down deeply in the shoe? Are you making sure it's dorsiflexed when you put the shoe on? Any sores or marks? I know we talked recently (Christmas Day!) but since this was bumped I figure I'll put this out there for you and everyone else who needs it... If you have pictures of his feet, we'd love to see them. Do take the series of pics like this: 1 each - standing bearing weight (hold him up) from front AND back directly facing the feet 1 each - both soles 1 each - profile pic with you using your palm to press his toes as far up towards his head as possible past " L " or neutral (which is " L " ). Profile pic shows dorsiflexion or degrees past " L " 1 each - his last cast if possible 1 each - any part of his foot with a sore or pressure mark 1 - his brace we should be able to help you troubleshoot this with these pics. Make sure whatever email you send is under 1mb total, yahoo will reject anything larger. small pics are great for viewing in emails, say 50-100mb each. Make sure you're on individual emails for this list or you won't see any of the attachments (yahoo does not archive them on the website - pics can only be seen in individual emails). Send us the pics and the wonderful parents on the CFPics list can work with you to figure this out. Guest guest
Hi all, I am sure grateful for all of you. It certainly is good for my mental health to communicate with others who understand how our daily lives are so complicated with this illness. The nerve pain we have been discussing is so frightening even though I have dealt with these spells I still wonder if I am having a heart attack? When woman's heart symptoms are discussed they seem to go right along with the " nerve Pain " . But I did have a spell when at the mayo clinic and the doctor saw me immediately and observed me. He did reassure me that it was not a heart attack so now I concentrate on what is best for me at the time of pain and it helps not to panic. birthday greetings to all! Guest guest
Fentanyl patches worked well, but I was allergic to the adhesive. I had a problem years ago with pain meds-- (the story is in the MESSAGE ARCHIVES) so I'm not willing to take much in the way of pain meds. I use guided meditation, visualization, 800mg of Motrin 2x daily, and the diet changes-- and really, really watch myself so I'm not getting dehydrated, and that has helped tremendously. Cutting out the refined sugars has helped the neuropathy more than anything else-- and when the small nerve fibre neuropathy kicks in-- it seems to be that my body responds well to Norweigan Formula Body Lotion-- it calms the nerves on the skin down right away. The other magic medication has been the MSM Powder. You can find guided meditations online--- and a great book is the STRESS REDUCTION AND RELAXATION WORKBOOK. You can often find copies in used book stores-- it was our "bible" when I went to Auburn Pain Medical Rehab Clinic for a 3 1/2 wk outpatient program 19yrs ago. I really credit that program for saving my life-- and giving me the skills I still use today and share with all of you (which gives me the reason to keep practicing them..) to live comfortably. I've even got a couple of guided meditations in the ARCHIVES -- you can search them and use them! WWW.ARTHRITISTODAY.ORG has a wonderful Drug and Vitamin Guide, as well as an Herbal Guide-- that really gives you alternatives to pain meds. It is truly the best $20 a year I spend-- I get the magazine each month-- and it always teaches me something new! Hope this helps, Tracie NS Co-owner/moderator To: Neurosarcoidosis Sent: Wednesday, October 28, 2009 5:42:16 PMSubject: Re: pain STRONG NARCOIDICS LOL Many blessings and a pain free day Please support Neurosarcoidosis society
