Well, I went and got some Nifirex (however that's spelled!) today and

took 2 tabs. The package says take 1-2 tabs, 1-2 times a day. So do you

think 4 a day would be too much for me to try? I go to the hemotologist

on Wednesday. I hope he will let me give this a try before we go to the

infusions.

Off-topic....our ins. co. denied my husbands CPAP (sleep apnea and

restless leg syndrome found recently on sleep study). I can't believe

this....I guess he didn't score " high " enough on the apnea test to

qualify for them to cover it. Have any of you been through this pre-op?

Any advice for fighting the denial of the CPAP? His snoring is soooo

unbelievably bad, he sleeps on an air mattress in another room. I am

incredibly frustrated with him and I feel guilty because of that. He is

not MO, just O....he needs to lose about 30-40 pounds and I know the

snoring would stop (it has in the past when he's lost weight). He's also

hypertensive and on med. for that.

Seriously, what do you do to encourage a loved one who " only " needs to

lose that much weight? I feel like I've tried it all.

I would appeal it or at the very least find out what criteria they are

using. Have you gotten a copy of the sleep study? Has the doctor

reviewed the study with your husband? Is sleep apnea his problem or is

it something else? I am not dening your husband has sleep apnea. God

only knows that mine was bad prior to surgery. I would check some

things out though and then appeal to the insurance company. It might

also help to explain to your insurance company the cost of NOT doing the

CPAP.
