Freeda Folic Acid

Hi SCDer's!

I just realized this morning that the Freeda brand Folic Acid that I have been

taking for 6 months contains cellulose gum (totally illegal!) I can't believe I

have been this careless, it is maddening! My husband and I have been trying to

get pregnant for years now and I switched brands when I started SCD in

September, I guess I just assumed the Freeda brand was ok since many other ones

are legal (kicking myself). Does anyone know of a legal brand of Folic Acid?

Thanks,

Holly O.

Hey Holly- how much are you trying to get? If you can tolerate a " serving " (3

tablets) of the Freeda Mulitivitamin, it has 800 mcg of folic acid. My old

prescription pre-natal vitamin was 1 mg so this is pretty darn close.

Hi Holly,

I’ve been taking Jarrow brand folic acid, which I

buy in a health food store near me. They’re based in L.A., so I’m not sure how widely they distribute

their products, but here’s the link:

http://www.jarrow.com/product/96/Folic_Acid

Each capsule is 800 mcg and the other ingredients are: cellulose

and magnesium stearate (vegetable source). Capsule consists of gelatin. No

wheat, no gluten, no soybeans, no dairy, no egg, no fish/shellfish, no

peanuts/tree nuts.

Their products seem to be available via mail order as

well.
