We found out today that our son will need the DOC band.

I am definitely interested in decorating the band, to help make it less clinical

for the little guy. Does anyone have suggestions as to how? What worked best?

Concerns with paint fumes? Stickers vs. paint, etc.

Any tips would be hugely useful!

Thanks.

I ONLY use Coree at bling your band blogspot. her website is

http://www.blingyourband.blogspot.com/

She has the best stuff, but I would suggest using modpodge over the stickers. There is a ton of info in the files on the plagio page.

Could you post pictures? I don't think I've ever seen anyone decorate their band with fabric, but what a great idea!

Hi. Usually the best stickers to use are the clear backed ones. They stay on

better than paper ones or raised ones and they are also easier to remove when

you want to change them. 's and AC moore are great places to look.

Also, you want to make sure that the stickers aren't very big, because the

bigger they are the harder it can be to get them to stay on (because of the

cruves of the helmet). Some people put some clear mod podge over the stickers

to help them stay longer. We didn't, but some find it helps.

Good luck and have fun decoarating.

Oh... another tip. We used the little letter stickers and put out Daughter's

name accross the front of her band. It actually seemed to help break the ice

when people knew her name and were more likely to talk to use rather than just

stare. :)

What have you experienced with decorating dos and don'ts? Thank you for any

advise. Caree

Use the clear backed stickers (I had a VERY frusterating experience with paper backed stickers that would not come off!!). I also layer with mod podge (goes on white, dries clear, and is non toxic). Also (I know I have mentioned her shop before, but I just love what she does) coree at "bling your band" has pre-made or will do custom designs with vinyl trasnfers. her site is http://www.blingyourband.blogspot.com/

Hi, Can someone help me with the vinyl transfers? I just received mine today and they didn't come with instructions. I want to make sure I put them on right. Can you tell me if I just remove the paper and rub it on then take the other paper off? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

I have a related question about vinyl transfers - how do you remove them from

the band if you want to change designs? Does rubbing alcohol or goo gone work?

Thanks,

So-I'm bummed. My son gets his DOC band on Friday, and in trying to find the 'silver lining' in all this, I was excited about decorating it for him. Unfortunately, the blingyourband site is closed for the summer. (Interesting way to run a business! :) ). Are there any other sources for custom decorations? I'm not very crafty...
