Guest guest
It appears that I have a possible dx for the leg swelling problem that I've been dealing with for the last 6 months and it ain't good. I'll find out for sure on Friday- had x-rays and a bone scan and an appointment with the foot doc on Friday. He seems to think that it's Charcot Foot, a complication of the diabetes. If this is the problem, I'll have a cast for a couple of months and be out of the gym for a time. I hate to exercise but I hate the thought of not doing it more. It becomes a problem of how to keep the blood sugars down and the weight heading in the correct direction without the ability to do any weight bearing exercise. He said that I could swim but..........pool is ice cold still and I don't really know how to swim, I just paddle around and play. I'm afraid that I'm heading into the deep hole of depression here. I have finally adjusted to my workouts 4 or 5 times a week and now it appears that I may have to stop. Then it becomes a question of not just weight control but blood glucose control. Without the exercise will I be able to keep the bg's low enough to not have to use insulin again. If I have to use insulin again, how will I keep the weight under control? Darn, darn, double darn!
