Personally as a MO person I did NOT over eat at restaurants because I did not eat much in front of people, so I did not feel guilty asking for the kids pricing. Guest guest
Funny this should come up here at the same time it came up on my surgeons support group. I've ocassionally used my card at some places. And yes, I agree that the kiddie menu really bites. Personally I've found that a dinner salad and appetizer work just great for me! And there are some buffets here in Vegas that will charge me for a childs buffet...but not many! But......the point was made that when we were MO, we were never charged more at a buffet because we ate so much. So why would we expect management to charge us less because we can't eat what we could before? Hmmm, food for thought me thinks?
Guest guest
Yeah, but the way buffets work, EVERYBODY gets charged extra for what the MO customers eat. They make most of their money on normal people who go for the variety and don't pile their plates up. If they start losing money because of the overeaters, they just hike the prices. So why should they make profit-and-a-half on me post-op because I just get a salad and appetizer, or whatever? Thankfully, the guy I talked to was very good about it, and only wanted the card. Haven't talked with other managers in other restaurants -- maybe it was the $10 salad that got to me. It's interesting, though -- I see a lot of MO people at Home Town Buffett or whatever it is, fewer at salad joints. When you're a food junkie your addiction dictates where you go, just like an alcoholic and a bar. Guest guest
This is a good point. I know I could easily do two or three plates full of whatever at buffets. I can't even do a full plate now. I mostly go to Chinese buffets and all of the ones I have gone to will let me do a to go container off the buffet. Some charge an extra $1 to do that but it is still a bargain and I can get at least 3 meals out of it.
