Guest guest
HI , I consulted 4 orthos, and 2 surgeons. Since each charge consultation fee, it got costly, but it was well worth satisfying my curiosity... I think it would be a great idea if this new member, or any new member, gathered experiences and opinions from this forum and then constructed a list of questions for the orthos and surgeons... in my opinion, this is a very effective way of using this forum. Also, yes, there needs to be a trust level - at least for me. These were the qualities i was looking for in an ortho and surgeon: 1. competent with at least 15 years experience and over the age of 45 but under the age of 55 2. good listener 3. caring attitude 4. pragmatic By the way, it's good to get 2nd opinions because some orthos and surgeons have varying idea on treatment... i'm sure some of the members here recall a poster named " DWILZEN. " One surgeon told him to get the surgery, while the other recommended against it... that is why i think it's important to get at least a few opinions... > > > > > > im currently 15 yrs old and ive had braces for about 3 yrs > > now...my > > > orthodontist wants me to under go lower jaw surgery but im really > > > not sure whether i want to do it or not. at first i didnt even > > > consider it but my parents want me to do it. im just really > scared > > > of the risks u could have after u have the surgery and i dont > know > > > what to do. my orthodontist really wants me to do this and its > > just > > > so much pressure. i dont have any problems eating/breathing or > > > anything..pls give me advice on what i should do or your opinion > > on > > > this. please reply back. thankyou
