Guest guest
Hi I had a LeFort I (as well as a BSSO, genio, and my wisdom teeth out) 4 weeks ago. I'm banded with a splint (it's my surgeon's opinion that a LeFort I gets the best results with a splint in for 6 weeks, though I'm sure that opinion isn't universal). My recovery so far has been pretty easy, and you would be having much less done. Personally I would feel uncomfortable working with a plastic surgeon, because it seems to me that a plastic surgeon would be more concerned with aesthetics while an oral maxillofacial surgeon would be more concerned with function (perhaps that's just a stereotype though), and I really want my bite to be functional in the end. The important thing though is that YOU feel comfortable working with this surgeon!! Maybe seeing some before and after pictures of previous patients would help you make a decision. - > > Today I found out that the surgery I will need is a LeForte I. Guest guest
Thanks for the replies. , do you have any pictures up? I'd like to see some pre and post-op. I'm going to meet with an oral surgeon next week. I know that the plastic surgeon works with my OS when performing surgery. The OS is in the room during surgery in order to put the splint in place. I'm wondering if this is normally the case. The plastic surgeon has a website (http://www.charlesthornemd.com/) and has several pictures of before and after, none of which are LeForte 1. > > > > Today I found out that the surgery I will need is a LeForte I. Guest guest
Hi No, sorry, I don't have any pics up, they're all still on my camera unfortunately (which my mom took with her when she went back home after looking after me). My teeth look pretty good to me though so far, even though they're still in their splint Probably not too helpful to you, since you can't see, but it sure makes me happy!! - > > > > > > Today I found out that the surgery I will need is a LeForte I. > This > > > is to correct an open bite.
