Guest guest
Kathy, I don't have any myself, but here is a link to the Cotton family site, via Dr. Ponseti's testimonials at his website, with a picture before the tenotomy: http://members.aol.com/vc11/week6.htm hope it might help,
Guest guest
Kathy, There are some possible ones on page 11 of the Global Help booklet. They show a foot that is corrected but without sufficient dorsiflexion. Guest guest
Hi Kathy, I was actually going to ask the same question and looked in the Global Help Booklet after seeing 's response to your question (Thanks, btw!). Page 11 has some good info on how the foot should appear after the fourth cast. Page 13 has a paragraph entitled " Decision to perform tenotomy " and speaks quite technically about the characteristics that the foot should possess before a tenotomy is performed. My Dr. wants to do the tenotomy in a couple of weeks (after the fifth cast) so I want to be sure to take this info with me. I would like to have him show me that the anterior calcaneus can be abducted from underneath the talus (this is the main thing that is discussed on pg 13). It says from the Global book that " this abduction allows the foot to be safely dorsiflexed without crushing the talus between the calcaneous and tibia. If the adequacy of abduction is uncertain, apply another cast or two to be certain. " I think it would be helpful for your friend to take this info to their doctor and review it with him/her before they do the tenotomy. It is great that you are looking out for your friend's child. Take care, Halley Pictures of Feet / casts tenotomy? Hi I'm trying to find a link to pictures of how the casts / feet should look like before a tenotomy is carried out for a friend who is using the Ponseti method. They are going to the hospital we left because our son's feet weren't properly corrected before a tenotomy was carried out. We are obviously anxious to help them ensure a tenotomy isn't carried out before the feet are in the correct posisiton. (The hospital has had further training since our son had problems there and they are in their first year of treating clubfoot using the Ponseti method) I do have pictures of our son's feet and I can picture how his feet looked once they were properly corrected and he was ready for his second tenotomy. However I'm not sure if these pictures / my memory is realistic as Ethan had more dorsiflexion the second time around than the first time round, due to the first tenotomy. (Does this waffle make sense?) If no one can think of any links is anyone willing to share their own pictures with me. I do belong to the cfpics site. Thanks Kathy ___________________________________________________________ NEW Yahoo! Guest guest
Halley, Just a little more info that may help you here, when the foot is fully corrected (prior to the tenotomy) the calcaneous will have already passed under the head of the talus and you your doctor should be able to show you exactly where to place your fingers to feel these bones in their proper positions. > > Hi Kathy, > > I was actually going to ask the same question and looked in the Global Help > Booklet after seeing 's response to your question (Thanks, > btw!). > > Page 11 has some good info on how the foot should appear after the fourth > cast. Guest guest
Hi , Thanks very much for the info. It's really nice to know the questions to ask before the tenotomy. I will definitely ask him about this and have him show me. Thanks for your help!
