Guest guest
How much sugar is in your protein drink? I felt really yucky when I was on liquids only (had lots of nausea) but as soon as I started on soft foods that went away. I don't think dumping syndrome lasts all that long. I've only had one episode of this and it was when I drank too much milk at one time but it only lasted about 1/2 hour or so. But now I am 4 weeks post op and I am handling milk in larger quantities without a problem. My doctor told me that dehydration is what lands most WLS patients back in the hospital so I sipped my way through the days in the beginning and always had a bottle of water in my hand. Michele Pam wrote: Hi everyone I am new to the sight and am 3 weeks out of surgery. Yesterday I ended up in the ER from dehydration. I got sick from the protein drink the nutritionist gave me and was sick for about a day & 1/2 after that. The doctor I saw in the ER told me that it was not uncommon for people to have boughts of sickness occassionally after the surgery. Can anyone please tell me if this is really is a common thing or if this is what they call 'dumping syndrome'? Thank you. Pam M.
