It's possible to have no symptoms and still test positive. In fact it is actually more common to NOT have symptoms...see below It's also possible to be over weight and test positive From Celiac Disease Foundation www.celiac.org Classic symptoms may include: · abdominal cramping, intestinal gas, distention and bloating · chronic diarrhea or constipation (or both) · steatorrhea -- oily stools · anemia - unexplained, due to folate, B12, B6, or iron deficiency (or all) >>>>>· weight loss with large appetite, or weight gain Many doctors will swear up and down that is impossible for you to have it. It is probably one of the most under diagnosed conditions in the US. Average time from onset of symptoms to diagnosis in the US is 10 years. Don't take no for an answer. My own mother was misdiagnosed for almost 20 years and almost died before she found an " enlightened " MD. She's doing fine now and has been GF for almost 15 years. It is genetic..so if someone in your family has it, someone else in your family is likely to have it. (My mother has it, I have it, we believe my great grand mother died from it) From celiaccenter.org Incidence of Celiac General pediatric population 1 out of 163 General adult population 1 out of 150 General population 1 out of 154 Children with symptoms 1 out of 40 Adults with symptoms 1 out of 30 First-degree relatives of celiacs 1 out of 12 Second-degree relatives of celiacs 1 out of 11 >>>>For each child with symptoms, four children have CD without symptoms; and >>>>For each adult with symptoms, 2 adults have CD without symptoms making Celiac Disease a silent disease Jay Bigam Marketing and Information Technology Manager Kinnikinnick Foods Inc. www.kinnikinnick.com Toll Free: 1-
