Guest guest
I think I would have to question if that would be too much on your body at one time even if it could be done. ICE -- WLS and Hysterectomy Have any of you had or heard of anyone who had a hysterectomy and WLS surgery at the same by LAP? I need to have a hysterectomy and I was just wondering if I could have them both at the same time. I have enjoyed reading all the posts here and get very encouraged by all the good weight loss. I am going for my tests and psych eval on May 3....I am getting nervous already. Jena
Guest guest
Jena, I traveled from Kansas to California to have my surgery. Hence, I didn't get a chance to meet with my surgeon until a couple of days before my surgery was scheduled. I asked her at that time if it was possible to have a hysterectomy at the same time. She told me that it was very possible but that I would have to have a consultation with an OB/GYN and, unfortunately, there was not time to arrange for that before my surgery. I wish I had made those arrangements in advance. If this is something you feel strongly about, I would recommend talking to your surgeon ASAP in order to have everything lined up. I don't want to get your hopes up because as everyone has discovered on this list, every surgeon has a different approach. It is possible that your surgeon would not approve of combining the procedures, but there is just as good of a chance that they would. Good luck. -- A. Guest guest
That is two very different types of surgery and they both are very serious and I doubt if any doctor would be willing to take such a chance putting their patient through such an ordeal. I don't really think that you realize what you would be going through. Please think very seriously before you make that kind of a decision. Just my opinion. Good Luck. A. B.
