Guest guest
Sonya, I am sooo sorry you have to have a second surgery. I have been wired completely shut for over five weeks now. I too paniced in the hospital because I felt I couldn't breath and was afraid toswallow liquids. I had a syringe with a catheter tube attached so I could poke it back in my mouth were those gaps are. I have a gap where my wisdom teeth were removed. Did you have yours removed? However, the space is small and thick liquids and pureed foods would just come right back out and get all over my face so I have only been drinking Boost, chicken broth, a thin liquified potatoe soup (that didn't work the best though), very thin smoothies with heavy whipping cream. I feel for you. Some just puree everything and suck it down. I just can't. I ordered the zip n squeeze bags and recipe book. That was helpful. I warn you though prepare an eating plan and schedule. I still am not drinking enough and continue to lose weight. I feel awful and just want food again!! I hope this helps. My doctors kept assuring me no one suffocated or choked to death but I wasn't convinced I wouldn't. I suppose its mind over matter. I am getting unwired Friday. I am ssoo scared about that! But at the same time and sooo ready to move on to the next stage of recovery. Good luck and hang in there.
