I'm surprised.But, yes, it can be dangerous. Non-stick pans are not particularly healthy even when before they start shedding bits of coating. There's lots of nasty chemicals imbedded in them. (Dr. Mercola is forever saying how awful non-stick pans are for one's health. I imagine he's right; but he does also sell his own brand of pans.) :-) For that reason I just tossed a couple of old non-stick frying pans recently went back to using my trusty old iron frying pans. They can leave iron residue, but that's a lot healthier than teflon/other non-stick residue. There is one type of non-stick pan that's made differently, apparently, and is supposed to be ok. I even have their muffin stones, but haven't tried them without using muffin cup liners yet.
