Guest guest
Hi, My baby likes to sleep with her head on one side and has developed a light flat spot one that side. I have been repositioning my baby as often as I can and I do see that the flat side is not getting worse. I use a rolled towel under her back as suggested by my doctor (she always moves away from it so that is pretty useless). I am also using the Boppy minky nest in the car seat, and whenever I have to lay her on her back. We also do tummy time. Does anyone have any suggestions. Will repositioning work to round out her head shape. How best do I do it? Please share your experience. I would appreciate any tips. Thanks. Guest guest
There are repo tips in the files section of this group. One thing that comes to mind is that you can sew the sock to your son's jammies, so he can't move away. Also consider a bumbo chair. Keep him off his head during the day and avoid carseats when possible (like using it with your stroller when you take him for a walk - instead use a baby carrier). Also avoid bouncers, swings etc as much as you can since they put pressure on the head (it isn't just sleeping). If your baby is already severe (which it doesn't sound like) you should consider banding. Also it is a good idea to take pictures periodically to see if repo is helping. Often a shot taken from above looking down at the top of the head shows the shape best. -christine sydney 2.5 yrs starband grad > > Hi, > > My baby likes to sleep with her head on one side and has developed a > light flat spot one that side. Guest guest
Hello and sorry to hear you are experiencing a hard time. For us we had the flattening too and decided to band my son at 4 months or around 20weeks. We too had tried to repo and had no luck. I would keep trying what you have done and if at 20 weeks no improvement go see cranial tech for a possible helmet. Since we did it so early we were only in the band for 8 weeks and my son had almost total correction. Be pushy and dont wait too long on this as it is hard to have it correct itself. Guest guest
Hi there- It sounds like you're really on top of things, and hopefully, if the flat spot is mild to low-moderate, you can be successful with repo. had some great suggestions, and really, I can't think of anything else to add. I agree that taking photos will be a great point of reference for you, if you take them once a week you should be able to see whether you are making good progress or not. Good luck! Jake-2 on Friday!
