Guest guest
, Any chance you have hemochromatosis? It's not necessarily something that you would have your entire life, it can crop in later. Been taking my two tabs of Nifirex daily with Vit. C.....go for follow-up next week with the hemotologist. Let's hope this works. I tried the Rx iron elixer but couldn't tolerate the taste at all. And I really tried to talk myself into it. It was a battle to get it down everytime. Thanks, Sharon in Indy
Guest guest
Heck I may as well chirp in here. Forgive me if I posted this earlier. From 5/05 to 5/29, I took two Niferex150 per day. In that period, ferritin nudged 2 points, hemoglobin stayed at 12.7, just under range. The most discouraging part was that my SGOT(AST) went from 28 to 57 in the same period. My WLS surgeon said it actually could affect liver enzymes. My PCP put me on liquid Niferex, 300mg 3 times per day. It's not bad at all in a little OJ, about 2 ounces. I suck it through a straw at the back of my throat to avoid staining my teeth. The poop is the most incredible shade of " anthracite. " Anyway, I decided I wasn't going to wait 6 weeks to find out if I get better or not, so I got a referral to a hematologist who I see Friday. I'm ready to get " hooked up " to the iron pump. We'll see what they say and I'll let you all know. in Austin RNY April 1998
