Guest guest
Hi there - I am expecting my second baby in early September. My son who is now almost 3 had torticollis and resulting plagio/brachy....Just wondering if there are any veterans still checking this site who have multiple children and if the other siblings also had it. I know plagio is common for twins, so I am excluding that scenario...I mean singletons where more than one sibling ended up having tort and/or plagio/brachy. I am worried that the tort was caused because I am tiny and that all my kids are going to end up having 'stuck baby syndrome' in utero and end up with tort, or maybe it was just random in that I am small but he also managed to get into a bad position, and that the new baby might not get so twisted up. mom to n, Starband grad in '07 new baby brother on the way soon
Guest guest
I am a mother of 9 and only my last born son, Justice, has plagio/tort. None of my other kids had anything like this and I had never even heard of it before until him. , Mom to Justice 8 months old- removed from Starband From: vanessackm <vanessackm@...>Subject: Has anyone had both siblings end up with tort/plagio/brachy (exluding multiples)Plagiocephaly Date: Friday, May 29, 2009, 5:10 PM Hi there - I am expecting my second baby in early September. Guest guest
My third child is my only one in a helmet--perhaps the tort in your first was caused by something in utero that will occur with your second as well, but in our case--my first two had NO problems with flat heads or tort (and rarely had tummy time since they hated it so much!). But baby #3--who knows what happened? He was always really high up near my ribs so maybe he got wedged somehow. I dont' know the odds of having repeat tort/plagio/brachio, but know it isn't a "done deal" Betsy From: vanessackm <vanessackm@...>Subject: Has anyone had both siblings end up with tort/plagio/brachy (exluding multiples)Plagiocephaly Date: Friday, May 29, 2009, 12:10 PM Hi there - I am expecting my second baby in early September. Guest guest
Yes, actually, two of our moderators (who aren't as active on the board) each had two children that were both banded because of inuterine contstriction/shaping. In fact, one of them is expecting her third and is pretty much assuming that s/he will need a band also (they think it's the shape of her pelvis). Of course, that's not the norm, but just so happens to be in their case. I have two children, and only my second had tort/plagio because he was so big (10 lbs. 11 oz.) and just didn't have much wiggle room in there. It's not a guarantee that your second will have it, but it's good that you're aware of it now and can start repositioning at birth (one of our other moderators literally started repo in the hospital with her second). Good luck! Jake-2.5 (DOCBand Grad 9/08) Jordan-5 > > Hi there - > > I am expecting my second baby in early September. Guest guest
My last 2 had plagio/brachy and they were my smallesy. BUt with my last I knew what to watch for and repoed and didnt need to band. MI have 4 kids. my oldest didn't need a band and my 2nd oldest was very brachy. Which I the time I didn't even know. I noticed after my third was banded and I was looking at old photos. Luckily he was sitting, crawling, rolling, and walking at an early age and his rounded out nicely. Congratulations on your pregnancy!!!
