Guest guest
O order Penzeys on line because the garlic and onion is legal and it saves me time. Other brands may have anti- caking agents. They don't have to be Mexican spices, anything delicious! <Brain tilt.> LOL! In 2005, before we headed back to New Orleans, I hit the Penzey's store in Birmingham and bought a small container of every spice they had that was legal. The containers nestle nicely in my drawer, alphabetically, so I can find what I need. I refill them from larger bags for the ones I use lots of, and just get a new container for the ones I don't use much of. Lessee... chives, parsley, sage, marjoram, rosemary, oregan (both Turkish and Mexican), thyme, paprika, ancho chili powder, white pepper, black pepper, cayenne pepper.... uh, do I have to stop yet? — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund Babette the Foundling Beagle

Note: I don't have actual letters for these; because I know how ethically they operate I've chosen to believe them when they've said there's nothing in either of these besides the respective types of peppers. (Whether you trust that is obviously up to you.) They also have a very good Southwest Seasoning blend that you might want to inquire of them about. The ingredients are salt, ancho pepper, onion, garlic, black epper, Mexican oregano, cayenne pepper, cumin, chipotle, cilantro. n-- ______________________________A funny, touching gift book for cat lovers. Guest guest
I use a fair number of Penzey's individual spices and herbs, too. I get several kinds of mustard powders that Marilyn didn't mention. The little combo samples they send me I give away, just in case they add something naughty. I might add one thing: one time I ordered a quarter pound of bay leaves. You have NO idea how many bay leaves this is! I'm still going on it! Fortunately the big bags seem to keep just fine in my big freezer. Bay leaves weigh nothing! I can just see the UPS guy with a trash bag sized sack of bay leaves flung over his shoulder knocking on your door with a strange look on his face... Guest guest
Thanks Marilyn! I just placed a pretty big order. Now I wait...very excitedly, and plan what I want to do with them!!! :) > >Question - are their ground single spices legal? > > Yes. Guest guest
Joanna & Dawn, Mine are organized alphabetically too. Just saves a lot of frustration when you love spices, have a lot of them, and need to find that particular one. Just makes sense to me! I also have organized binders of recipes and have started my new SCD binder! Dawn, I loved your declaration "I am Italian and food is love." Haha, beautiful! Cooking has always been a hobby for me. I am Italian, and food is love. > >> > Thanks Marilyn and n! I am going to get all the ones you mentioned that I don't already have (some of those I grow in my garden). I am ready to try some exotic things and experiment with different kinds of chili peppers. I just hope my gut is ready too! > >> Looking for the perfect gift? Give the gift of Flickr!

But then, if I got that, I'd have to give a commission to the guy who introduced ME to Penzey's!
