Guest guest
Well everyone, saw the doc this afternoon and he didn't do the scope today after all. The specialist I saw wants to preview all his patients before the scope. I couldn't go to original surgeon Dr. because of my insurance-Cigna. Anyway I am panicking, upset etc. I took my upper gi photos with me. After our conversation of me asking a million questions, him answering the main gist was sld doesn't happen to transected rny patients or rarely. Fistulas or very uncommon. Ok-then the bomb. He looks at my photos and says we have a problem. His exact words thereabouts are I see your distal stomach (unused stomach) and we shouldn't see it. Your pouch is compromised, staples have broken lose and there is drainage into the distal(old stomach.) He will do the scope next Friday and see how big the separation is and give me the size of the pouch, stoma, etc. as I requested. Meantime, I contact both my rny surgeons, yes I had two due to insurance reasons and both are out of town. I am very very upset because I feel like I weigh 353 pounds again even though I have gained about 40. Background on me lap rny aug. 99 original weight 353 now, 230.HELP!!! One reason I am so worried is because my original doctor said he won't do revisions because they are too dangerous. I called both offices talked to a nurse without a scope and doc seeing it I am in limbo !!! Thanks for listening Debbie in St. Louis
Guest guest
Oh, Debbie, I'm so sorry! It sure sounds like a fistula to me. One of our members recently had surgery to correst this, but unfortunately, I can't remember her name. I hope she reads this and can give you some words of wisdom. Even if that one doc won't fix it, I know that it usually can be fixed by a very experienced surgeon. Don't give up, sweetie, hopefully someone knows of a top surgeon somewhere near you who accepts your insurance, and can fix you up like new. Meanwhile, go ahead and cry, scream, whine, do whatever you want on here, because we have over 6000 very strong shoulders! Hugs, in NJ *********************** > Fistulas or very uncommon.
