Guest guest
Our son was almost 5 months old when we had our initial consultation. It wasn't ever a big deal to me. I knew he had the flat spot on the back of his head and PT and repositioning didn't help. I guess I was just confident that if he needed the helmet the ortho would tell us and I was confident that it would work. Turns out he had 12mm asymmetry. We were told to expect him to wear the helmet 4-5 months, but after 13 weeks, he is an official graduate. Our son adjusted to the helmet without any issues. I guess we were a textbook case. The fact that you are starting when your son is younger is great. You'll have a better chance of hitting growth spurts and getting the best results from your helmet, assuming he gets one. My advice is to be calm and consider this treatment is a small price to pay and your son will not remember any of it. Let us know how the appointment goes. == On Thu, Apr 23, 2009 at 4:06 PM , vickieatwork wrote: > Hi, I have an almost four month old son. Guest guest
We were upset and nervous but the parents on this board helped reassure us we were doing the right thing, esp. b/c his plagio and brachy numbers were so severe. We are so glad we did it and he looks really good now. He's still a work in progress but at least he can lead a normal life. He also had severe facial assymetry. There is nothing more satisfying than knowing that all the time, effort and money is not wasted but will help him have a better quality of life. Our own feelings and fears are temporary but his head shape, whether it's normal or not, after he is two, is permanent. You'll get through it and your child will thank you. Good luck! > > > Hi, I have an almost four month old son.
