Guest guest
Hi, I am concerned about whether giving my son zinc might have any bad effects. The reason this may come up is that all three of our kids have had a chicken pox like virus called molloscum (spelling??) and in the case of our 10 yr old daughter and 4 yr old son it hasn't gone away in like a year. So our daughter went to a dermatologist and he prescribed 7 1/2 mg of zinc once a day. He said the zinc will help the immune system fight the virus. He's going to see our son in a week when we come back from vacation. Two concerns here assuming he prescribes zinc for our son as well. 1. can the zinc itself do any harm that anyone's ever seen? 2. I wonder if the pills are GF/CF... if not then I wonder how much hassle and/or expense will be involved I'm going to hazard a guess here that since my son weighs just over a third of what his oldest sister weighs that the doctor may prescribe about 2 1/2 mg of zinc once a day. Can I supply that to him reliably through foods, to avoid the whole pill issue? Or would this still have to be done through pharmaceuticals? Marty p.s. I'm going to turn off my email soon for the week... gonna miss you guys while we're gone
