The nutritional value of meat versus a diet without meat can be measured, and there's simply no contest in terms of the number and range of nutrients that meat provides that vegetable sources of protein, fat and amino acids can't provide. Its' actually possible that you feel better without meat because of your mental image of "rotting flesh clogging up" your insides.  You -- any human being -- could live, if you had to, in good health eating only meat. That would certainly not be the case if we had to eat only vegetables (and couldn't take supplements to get the nutrients the vegetables can't provide).n ______________________________A funny, touching gift book for cat lovers. I would love to be able to eat meat. But every time I try, and I mean every time,

I get even more constipated. Does anyone

know why this is? Is it my imagination

or does meat really clog up our intestines, for some people I mean.

Thanks,

GERDS and chronic C.

Yes, all bodies are different. But

sources of protein, fat and amino acids can't provide. Its' actually possible

live, if you had to, in good health eating only meat. That would

certainly not be the case if we had to eat only vegetables (and couldn't take

supplements to get the nutrients the vegetables can't provide).

That's the great thing about SCD--we are all over the place with different tolerances, likes and that includes vegan, vegetarian and people with anemia.  I'd eat a 'fatted calf' if I could afford it ;-).

Depends. RAW meat actually has vitamin C in it. Which is why true

pemmican is made with meat dehydrated at very low temps.

I knew a guy who couldn't tolerate fruits or vegetables, and did live off

raw meat. Me, I'm not willing to go quite that far.

SCD is intended to be a balanced diet. If you are able to do that as a

vegetarian, then fine.

For myself, I hope to be able to get my meat from a place like Polyface

Farm some day. As it is, I aim for a local farmer who handles his animals

humanely, not from a feedlot.

I'm one of those who doesn't do well without meat.
