Hi Cindy,

You sound like me when I first started out. I had reached my first plateau

about 3 weeks out and stayed there for nearly 4. Finally I started losing

again and am down another 15 or so. I will be 10 weeks out tomorrow. Try not

to

get discouraged although I know it's hard, believe me I know. The best thing

to do is NOT get on the scales. Was also told that while we may not be losing

weight we are losing inches. Can't do both at the same time. Hang in there

and keep up the good work. Sounds like your doing great to me.

Ok take a deep breath and relax. This is perfectly normal. You are

going through a hibernation period which is very common in the

beginning. Your body is in shock from the surgery basically and

feels like you are starving it so it is holding on to that weight

but it will soon adapt and you will probably drop several pounds all

at once again before you begin losing steadily.

Are you exercising regularly? If you have begun an exercise regime

after surgery you also have to remember that muscle weighs more than

fat and you are building muscle if you are exercising. That will

regulate itself soon as well.

You might want to stop getting on that scale for a week or so and

start taking measurements of your body and see if you are losing

inches but not LBS for now. That sometimes helps a lot to do that.

I can't count how many posts like this I have seen and I also wrote

a similiar post at about 5-6 weeks post-op. I thought I was the one

person the surgery had failed. I stalled out for several weeks but

since then have lost over 100 LBS. You will too!! :)

Yes! Be patient and do the right things and it will all pay off!

The weight loss in the beginning is mostly water weight. That is why

we lose so much to start off. Just like when dieting you lose so

much more at first. That is one reason people get so discouraged

with diets. The weight pours off them at first then slows down so

they lose interest in the diet or think it isn't working as well any

more.

Remember...slow and steady wins the race!

You have a nice weekend too Kelley!
