Guest guest
I've had my braces about a year so far, and right now, surgery is anticipated towards the middle to end of 2005 depending on how a few more teeth move. That will put me in braces right around 2 years. As for the insurance, I was initially denied but didn't follow thru on appeals until I knew I was closer to my surgery date - that is one of the thing's I'm going to start working on this month joy joy ! You have a great day too !! > > Hi everyone! I just got braces in preparation for my surgery. How > long did everyone have to have their braces before they were ready? > Any words of advice? How about insurance struggle, anything I can > head off there (already approved). I've really enjoyed reading > everything you all have posted, its been very helpful. Have a great > day! Guest guest
I had my braces put on in October 2003 and my surgery (uppper only) November 2004 but everyone is different and I think the length of time prior to surgery depends on how much work they need to do to get things into alignment. Keep up with the insurace approvals. I was told that my preauthorization was only good for 6 months so it had to be resubmitted prior to the surgery. > > Hi everyone! Guest guest
my teeth were ready after 5 months, but i had the surgery at 6 1/2 because of school. my teeth were also really really crooked (the lowers were, not so much the top) if you are already approved, it doesn't seem that you will have any insurance problems! good luck! gina > > Hi everyone! Guest guest
One of the biggest suggestions is to be fanatical about keeping your mouth clean. Brushing, flossing, using a waterpik, proxabrushes etc. It isn't easy, but it's soooo important. I had the surgery at the end of month 16 in braces, and had the appliances removed four months later -- although I developed shingles on my face about two months out of surgery, and that slowed us down by a whole month. > > Hi everyone!
