Guest guest
Your doctor is 100% Correct! Most people eat way too much Omega 6's. You can read and educate yourself more at: http://efaeducation.nih.gov/ (this site also has downloadable software so that you can enter foods and see what their Omega 3 and 6 content is) Coldwater fish is an excellent source of Omega 3's, but AVOID any farmed fish. They are fed a diet high in corn and soy (instead of wildcaught which feeds on algae and other fish as they are intended to in nature) and are very high in Omega 6's. Your best choices for seafood high in Omega 3's are Wild-caught salmon, Sardines, Shrimp and Crab. Walnuts are not a good choice of Omega 3's. While they do, indeed, have 2574 in Omega 3's, they also carry 10,799 in Omega 6's. So the net total is not desirable. That being said, all nuts have a high Omega 6 balance and that just cannot be avoided on this diet. We all have to make personal decisions and as far as I'm concerned, I've never had better results with this SCD diet! So I am willing to eat nuts and try to balance them out with other foods high in Omega 3's. Perhaps this was more info than you were looking for I am passionate about nutrition so I just wanted to share! -Joanna SCD 9/2009, Crohn's 1992 > > > Does anyone take Omega 3 fish oil and if so, does it really help?
