Guest guest
Hi karen. glad to be of help. Complications i was warned about. Hmm. i was told there would be a of relapse. However i was 17 at the time so they had to pretty much guess as to whether i would grow much after surgery. im not sure if there is an increased risk of numbness having the upper jaw done, but i was warned about that. also having the top jaw done you will find that you will be congested more after surgery and you may have more swelling. I think i have read that it can also take longer to recover from top jaw surgery. i wasnt really for warned about anything else that i can recall. but if i remember anything i will be sure to let you know. my surgeon did mention something about how precise the break would be. do you have your wisdom teeth?> i had to have mine removed in a seperate surgery before my jaw op. about 3months before. he said the time gap was to allow the cavity where the wisdom teeth had been extracted to heal as this section of bone is very thin. taking wisdom teeth out during jaw surgery leaves the cavity fragile, which can be harder to predict a break. the roof of your mouth is also numb after its been sectioned. Im not sure whether there is a risk that it will be premenant, i guess there probably will be. having an RPE they have to be careful also not to section the palate too far as your surgeon wont want to creat an open bite, rather to just widen your upper jaw. i hope this info helps you out. I will let you know if i have missed anything out. Guest guest
Hi again karen. I just want to add to that. i re read some of your posts. Im not sure how an open bite works or affects the mouth. Ive a feeling ive just contradicted myself there. When i was told that they have to be careful about how much the seperate the Palate, this will widen the roof of your mouth, i mentioned they have to be careful about not creating an open bite. i think i mean by that , that they dont section it too far that gaps between the teeth are created where they have made the break, i think thats what i meant. Oh ive gone and confused myself now. My apologises. lol.... yes thinking about it makes sense what i just re said. hopefully anyway. sorry. kind regards Kat_UK > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Hi All: > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I have a question for anyone who has had a Maxillary > Lefort > > > 3 > > > > > piece > > > > > > > procedure. Guest guest
-Hi karen Thats one less thing to worry about having no wisdom teeth. I had sinus work whilst i had jaw surgery so some of my numberness must of been contributed from that too. there must be alot of nerves etc around the upper jaw area as apposed to the bottom? hmmmm..... kind regards Kat_Uk -- In orthognathicsurgerysupport , " georgek042003 " <georgek042003@y...> wrote: > > Hi Kat: > > Yes, my wisdom teeth have been out for quite some time now.
